Hayley

Hayley is a crucial member of the Practice staff.
A graduate of Southampton University where
she obtained a 1st Class degree with
honours in accounting and finance.

After her degree success,
Hayley entered into a training contract
with S C Miller Ltd. In September 2009 she
became a member of the ICAEW and manages
several client accounts and tax affairs
as well as ensuring a good communications
structure within the company.

When she is not working on behalf of clients she
is either swimming or practicing Pilates.

Ruth

Ruth started work in an accountant’s office
in Plymouth when she left school. In 1970
she moved with her husband and children
from Plymouth to the Isle of Wight and took a
break from accountancy. She spent five years
as supervisor of a playgroup, which she had
helped to set up. In 1975 she moved from the
Isle of Wight to Cheltenham and decided to have
yet another change. This time she worked as
a bookkeeper in a garage. In 1981 she moved
back to the Isle of Wight and resumed work in
an accountancy firm. She became a member
of the Association of Accounting Technicians in
March 1984. She continued to working for this
firm until she moved to Southampton in 1986
when she transferred to a firm of Chartered
Accountants in Southampton. She became a
Senior Accounting Technician in April 1991
and in May 1994 was admitted as a Fellow
member of the AAT. In 1998 she transferred to
an office in Portsmouth and continued working
there for six years until she started work for
S C Miller in December 2004. She has three
grown up daughters and six grandchildren.
Two daughters and four grandchildren
live on the Isle of Wight and the other
daughter and two grandchildren live in London.
